Restaurant, Cape Town

Nobu is famous for its beautifully presented dishes, its elegant decor, and of course, its world-class and famous supporters and clientele (Robert DeNiro, for example). Being a leader in the restaurant business, Nobu has a level of respect and high expectations its visitors are accustomed to.

The first and currently only Nobu on the African continent, world-class chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa has not disappointed or let standards slip. The menu contains several international favourites – Black Cod Miso, Wagyu Beef and Lobster Tempura with Yuzu Truffle and Spicy Lemon Garlic – but also has some delectable additions indigenous to South Africa, such as the Sake Roast Whitefish with Jalepeno.

Location-wise, this Nobu it is right on the V&A Waterfront within the luxury One & Only Resort, and serves as the hotel’s main restaurant. The decor has gold and rust influences, akin to a treasure chest found in the Far East. Be sure to have a drink and nibble at Nobu’s Ceviche Bar, where you may catch the Head Chef personally serving up a variety of mini Japanese-style tapas dishes created (or perhaps invented) only minutes ago.
