Boutique Hotel, Cape Town
Manna Bay is a hidden gem in the true sense of the word: it is both hidden – as in nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, totally off the tourist trail – and once you find it, it is indeed a gem.
The place has the feel of being someone (rather privileged and stylish)’s hillside pad, who just so happens to have numerous en suite guest rooms. The building itself is a well architecturally designed modern structure, with various chic terraces and lounge areas. The interior design is simultaneously sleek and cutting edge, yet also cosy, cutesy, and a tad retro.
The 8 guest rooms are all individually designed and each have their unique perks. The Versailles room boasts a private terrace with an outdoor four-poster bed, for those who desire to sleep under the stars, while the Pom Pom has its own private garden courtyard.
Manna Bay’s real selling point however is the sublime view of Cape Town and the Ocean beyond, from this rare vantage point. Guests’ meals are prepared at Manna Bay in a home-style open-plan kitchen by their in-house chef, and the stuff they serve definitely feels homemade. Choose to enjoy breakfast, dinner, or simply some wine and nibbles in their sparse dining room, with glass windows looking out over the city.
